Compressed into helpless dust by video screens and sound,

I wanted to close my eyes, surrounded by breathing trees,

Unlimited air, the close companions of leaf and wood

Are standing beside me, watching silently where they stood.

But papers and screens surround me firmly and loudly tease

While silicon archons blast their dominance, coldly crowned.

A being imprisoned by the jaws of the phosphor grains,

Still working to keep afloat, and swimming against the stream,

And longing for quiet nature, longing for peace.

Still longing for time and space to stretch, and the grind to cease.

And yet in the core of darkness glimmers a twisting beam

Of soft blowing silence and gently cleansing rains.
