People makes they choices

Today I can be grateful for one thing:

My life, my world, my hopes were never built

On taking the goodness of human nature for granted.

If that assumption were my axiom,

Then all my mind would be crashing down today,

When pettiness and evil bigotry

Have been so grandly vindicated.

Again. And again. And again.

I can't make other people's choices.

That doesn't mean those choices were good ones.

Nor does it mean that their choices

Will not do me (and them) grievous harm.

But they will not change what I believe to be true,

Because I do not think truth comes from popularity.

And it certainly doesn't come from social media.
